“The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it’s all that matters.” —Steve Jobs
I would say to myself stop putting so much pressure on yourself, everything will work out.
Also, don’t listen to jealous and unreasonable teachers. In particular:
1. Your piano teacher who told you, you are too independent. This independence, that your parents taught you, is to be treasured not resented. Because of it, you will be able to quickly adapt to any situation in your life.
2. Your English language teacher who told you that ‘you won’t speak a foreign language in your life and that your dad will never bring you to Portugal’. Guess what, in only short 3 months after that, the whole family moved to Portugal and you adapted, learned the language and did the Junior certificate exams in Portuguese. You then moved to Ireland and in short year and a bit did your Leaving certificate in English.
3. Your chemistry teacher, who told you that you will amount to nothing and you are nothing like your parents, who are scientists. Don’t listen to her, she is resentful because of some previous history that you had no say in. You move to Portugal and fall in love with practical science, the love that is fed further in Ireland. You will do a science degree and will get your PhD in Biochemistry. You will struggle a bit as post doc, but will find your own path in Biopharma industry. You are now respected in yours work and you love what you do.

Why be a teacher if you’re going to treat students like that? I don’t understand.

Yes, I can’t understand that either. I just wish I didn’t take it to heart when I was a teen. As it really messed up my confidence
