Blog prompt: What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

I do not have strategies per se.

I am a type of person who holds everything on the inside, until it gets too much and then explode.

Nowadays, I am better at regulating my feelings and being able to either address or move on.

If I am having a bad day in work, I either just forget about it and move on if it is not worth wasting my mental space on or talk it out with my hubby. If someone not being respectful to me, I address it straight on.

If I am having a tough day at home, I speak up or show my frustration with my actions.

For example, at the moment, I am not cleaning after anyone except myself. As I work from home, my family stopped cleaning after themselves. Presuming that I have all the time in the world. My stress levels are always high if there is too much clutter or rubbish. That is why I have been working hard to get rid of things, to minimize our possessions .

It’s been 2 days of me just cleaning after myself and house is the dirtiest it has been for a while.

Now, before you say anything, I am doing it to teach them a lesson. I asked several times if we could get someone to help out couple of hours a week, as I do work full time (08:30 to 17:00). But was told we are not paying someone to clean, we can do it ourselves, so show me we can.

And when I do go on site for a day, I am told… “but we were working/studying”. If they are at home, same applies, “we were relaxing”. So, basically it only applies to me as apparently I have time and they don’t. So… for last two days I haven’t done anything. I will help out when they do start tidying but not until they do.

How do you as full time working parents divide the house chores ? Anyone else in the same boat as me?
