Hi friends,
I most often find myself focusing on what I do not have instead of wealth that I possess. I do not mean the wealth in terms of money, I mean wealth in terms of good friends, nicest family, health, opportunities that I have, a job that I enjoy, etc. It is easy to fall into a trap by thinking thought like, I wish we had enough money to buy a bigger detached house, I wish we could go on holidays, I wish I could spend more time with my family, etc.
Only recently, after starting my journey to minimalism, I started appreciating how rich I actually am in my life.
Being thankful for what we have makes us want less and appreciate everything that surrounds us.
I usually start my day in the morning with a short walk from a train station to my work-place (approx 20 minutes). It gives me a chance to focus on the day ahead and once I get there be ready to do what is needed. During those 20 minutes, I try and think about all the things that already happened in the day for which I am so thankful for.
For example, today my first thoughts were, I am so thankful that I have two gorgeous little boys that I adore and who are so affectionate and kind. I am so thankful to have a job that provides with means of giving them what they need to grow up healthy and happy. I am so happy and thankful to see their smile first thing in the morning and to hug and kiss them goodnight every night. I am so thankful that the car is driving nicely and the train was on time and I got a spacious seat. I am so thankful for the good weather we are having so I can enjoy my walk.
There were many more gratitude thoughts, but I am sure by now you get my drift…
I find that by starting my day like this it makes me so happy and appreciative, this results in me noticing anything else that happens during the day that I am thankful for, while before I would have taken these for granted.
What about yourself? What are your thoughts on gratitude? What are you thankful for?
Hope you had a lovely day.
